Day 3--June 3, 2014

This morning was harder than the last couple because I was really sore.  I had a couple of ibuprofin with my coffee before I headed to the gym.  Once I got moving I was fine.  This is still the first two weeks--nothing but cardio for 6 days and today was no different.  This week I'm still focusing on doing the Elliptical machine since it uses upper and lower body muscles and I had a good pace.
One other thing I noticed later in the morning was that I got dehydrated while teaching--had to drink more water than usual.  I usually down a 24 oz bottle while on the machine.  Today I did 24 oz on the machine and 24 oz after breakfast.  I've also brought a 1.5 L bottle with me to work and hopefully I won't have another dry mouth issue crop up.

I'm also working on eating more fruits and veggies, cutting back on bread and other carbs, but still not making a major diet adjustment at present.  For me when I've been very physically active, I've maintained healthy weight or dropped from unhealthy to healthy weight within a few months of becoming very active.  Usually what I've eaten hasn't been a big deal.  I just can't be sedentary and not watch how much or what I eat.  For the sake of my kids, for the sake of my living, my quality of life, the easier choice is to be very physically active.  I have 3 more days until I take a Sabbath (which will be Saturdays for me for the time being).

My next weigh in will be Saturday Morning.  Hopefully I'll drop a few pounds.

Day 2--June 2nd 2014

I managed to wake up early and hit it again.  Today I managed another 65 minutes on level 8/12 on the elliptical machine, burned 838.3 Calories.  I had a better pace today, but this is only my 2nd day.  Camera fail prevented me from getting a pic of the dials.  Here's my 2nd day pic:

Day 1--June 1, 2014

As someone who used to be an athlete in my teens, 20s, and 30s, I've found that keeping up with exercise and maintaining healthy body weight is difficult, especially after having kids and working full time.  However, recently, I had a wake-up call that has renewed my determination to be active and healthy, and to lose about 50 pounds for the sake of my quality of life as well as to be able to be active with my kids and my friends.  To that end, I am also blogging my information as I go about this goal.

On June 1, I weighed 240 pounds, about the most I've ever weighed.  My ideal weight for height and frame is 180 lbs.  My doctor has said that if I get down to 190 and maintain 190, I would be considered healthy and the benefits would be great.  For me, I've always maintained healthy body weight when active and thus I am getting my activity level up.  65 to 100 minutes a day, 6 days a week, with one full day of rest each week.

The first two weeks I'm doing nothing but cardio via elliptical machine at the gym.  This first day I managed 65 minutes level 8/12 at 795 calories.
